The Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) traces its roots back to 1891 when it was founded by Theodore Thomas. Known for its rich, full-bodied sound, the orchestra quickly gained a reputation for excellence. Over the years, it has performed countless world-renowned works and collaborated with some of the greatest musicians of the time.
The CSO gained significant recognition with its first international tour in 1904 and later under the baton of conductors like Fritz Reiner and Georg Solti, who helped elevate its global standing. Milestones such as winning the Grammy Award for Best Orchestral Performance in 1962 and performing at major world events have cemented its legacy.
Today, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra remains a cornerstone of classical music.
